Unfortunately our planet earth is changing, now it is distinguished by its high temperatures, extreme climate changes and the increase in the number of meteorological phenomena. Changes that have drastically affected our habitat and lifestyle, forcibly leading us to an adaptation process in order to survive. Process that not only the human being goes through, but also our flora and fauna, with Global Warming being the main cause of all these changes. Ironically, we are responsible for the increase in global warming on our planet and the solution to slow down its effects is in our hands.
In order to understand and be part of the solution, we must know what global warming is and its effects. In the National Geographic encyclopedia this term is defined as follows: Global warming is the long-term warming of the planet’s overall temperature.
Scientific studies have shown that the main cause for the increase in temperature on the planet is the greenhouse effect. Effect that is generated when the increase of some gases in the atmosphere retain heat in the earth. According to scientific history, thanks to the greenhouse effect, the planet earth is suitable for life. Without these gases, the earth would be colder and possibly uninhabitable. But like everything in life, excesses are harmful. Unfortunately, due to excessive industrial development and lack of awareness in human activity, an accelerated increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has been caused, resulting in global warming, a problem that affects us all.
Unfortunately, the effects caused by global warming are becoming more drastic and worse, they are irreversible, so this problem deserves all our attention and quick action. It is important that we understand that if our planet earth continues to be affected by higher temperatures, more frequent forest fires, more intense rains, storms and hurricanes, longer droughts and a significant rise in sea level due to melting ice. Our habitat and the way of life that we know today could disappear in a short time. All these effects cause serious problems that affect our subsistence, such as the scarcity of water and food due to extreme droughts or intense rains. As we are also affected by the melting, which considerably increases sea levels, robbing us of more land spaces. Which causes serious housing problems, forcing coastal families to leave their homes. All this because of the increase in greenhouse gases caused by man.
Unfortunately, human unconsciousness in the development of industrial activity has caused our planet earth to suffer extreme climatic changes due to global warming. Which is the result of the excessive increase in the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, gas and petroleum, thus increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, these being responsible for retaining heat in it and increase global warming. Problem that negatively affects our habitat, water and air quality, putting our flora, our fauna and finally our lives at risk. Therefore, it is vitally important that we take action and choose to completely eliminate or reduce the burning of these fossils in the industry and replace these practices with the use of renewable energy, such as wind or solar. Only in this way can we slow down the climatic changes that affect us and reduce global warming.
As I mentioned before, ironically we are responsible for the increase in global warming on our planet and in our hands is the solution to slow down its effects. A solution that requires the participation of the government, private companies and all of us to be real and effective. In addition, it requires large financial investments to replace the burning of these fossils with renewable energy, in industrial activity worldwide. Which in my opinion is the main reason why some governments and companies have not taken more radical measures to counteract the great problem of global warming. Reality that makes it even more difficult for us to save our planet, but without a doubt, education on the subject and the execution of simple environmentally friendly practices will forge the path towards the correct solution, reduce global warming and preserve life on our planet earth.
